Depending on an individual’s needs, Launch provides additional specialized services for those seeking career counseling.
Job Shadowing
Gives high school students a taste of the job they think they might enjoy. Launch counselors work with local employers to set up a Job Shadow experience. You will follow an employee to observe what a typical workday looks like and be given the opportunity to ask questions and decide if it’s a career you would like to pursue. It’s a great way to gain firsthand experience in what it’s like to work in a specific occupation – before you spend time and money on a degree.
Academic Coaching
Focuses on the support structures high school students need to succeed in college, including:
- Motivation and goal setting.
- Organization and effective study tactics.
- Time management and activity mapping.
- Executive functioning support.
- Growth mindset and managing academic anxiety.
- Self-Advocacy.
Special Accommodations
Launch counselors work with students and workers to assist with:
- Applying for disability services.
- College or course registration.
- Resume writing and career assessment testing for those with disabilities.
- Finding job opportunities that can honor special accommodations needs.
